The popularity of the Labrador retriever mirrors the breeds of dog typically found in a Head Start puppy training class: On any given Saturday, we usually have several Labrador retriever puppies participating in the class. It is difficult to find a serious temperamental fault with Labrador retriever puppies, however this is not to downplay the significance of early training and socialization, which is provided in the Head Start puppy training program.
Our experience with Labrador puppies has been that males, occasionally, can be particularly stubborn, and resistant to compliance from certain members of the household. Frequently Labrador puppies will continue to pull ahead while walking, but usually this can be adequately dealt with by the use of a Gentle Leader had collar to teach the puppy to walk properly on a leash. If needed, the head collar can be individually sized and fitted properly by Dr. Polsky at the time of the class session. Generally, labs were fun breed to work with and very willing to please!
